Welcome to
the guestbook for The Smarties Tube Gallery. You may
wish to leave a message here for everyone else to see,
rather than just emailing me. I've created an optional
field for people to leave their location. If you do not
wish to complete this field that's ok, but it would be
great to see where all the visitors to this site come
from. You don't have to be specific. Town, county, state
or even country will do! A name is required, but this
does not have to be your real name. You could use any
alias you wish. (It would be handy if you use the same
screen name in any future messages though!).

Hey, this is cool! I wonder if you
can help me...? Years ago in 1971 I made an advert for
Smarties - it was the first one to use the song "Smartie
people are happy people..." I am the young man sitting
(or standing) up a tree with thousands of Smarties
pouring down over me, eventually obscuring me by filling
up the screen. This is a genuine shout and I would love
to hear from you. The thing is in this age of
youtube/videos/retro etc a whole new realm of
possibility has opened up to me to perhaps obtain a film
of the ad from somewhere, as we didnt have videos in
those days and despite the fact that the ad must have
been shown a thousand times over a few years (it was on
for a number of years in to my teens. even, from the age
of eleven).
We once wrote to Jimmy Saville's Jim'll Fix It! to
try and see a rereun but never heard a thing.
I have managed over the years to get on TV a few
times and have managed to find these on youtube - and
one is actually immortalised on an Iron Maiden DVD:
Early Years vol 1. If you can in any way help me or
point me toward someone who can, I'd really appreciate
it; meanwhile I'll try and contact via the web any
relevant parties -Rowntrees/ITV etc. PS on my myspace
site you can see my TV appearances Barrimore show with
Royal Liberty Morris Dancers (heavy metal morris
dancers, sort of) and I'm the one standing toward the
back with long curly hair and a Magnum Tshirt under my
leather jacket. Also the black and white vid on heavy
metal fans at an Iron Maiden gig - I'm the 2nd one on
speaking (about punks with spikey hair and disco freaks
with silly little shoes...o to be young and agendered,
eh?). Have fun. Hope to hear from you. T.Rets (Jimmy
of KINGSREACH, my band)

BLUE
SMARTIES ARE BACK!!! i was in tesco this evening and
found a tube of smarties mini eggs with the words "Blue
is Back!" on the front and "no artificial colours or
flavours" at the top, could not believe my eyes, so i
have bought a tube... there are no brown ones and the
blue ones are a paler blue than before, but great to see
them back again!

Thanks for the heads up Richard. I haven't seen the
tubes, but I got hold of a couple of bags at ASDA
yesterday. It's only on eggs at the moment as an easter
Special (haven't we just had Christmas?!) but hopefully
they will extend it to the actual SMARTIES. Thnks
again.

Hi. Thanks. I don't like the new tubes
either. Ah, yes. The black and white tubes and
smarties. I really liked those myself. Bring back the
good old days...have you heard that blue smarties are

Hello,
Fantastic website you have running here. I am a huge
fan of smarties, I just ate a whole pack and now I feel
ill...but it was well worth it......I remember a
valentines limited edition we had in Canada in the 90s,
all smarties were red and pink. Also there was a version
where there were purple smarties with sunglasses! like
this:
bye bye

Hi Anna. I'm glad you lie the site. Are you sure the
purple smarties looked like that? The ones in the UK
looked like this...COOL_DUDE_TUBE.html

love
your website! i found a tube in my loft that you don`t
have here!! don`t wanna part with it but i can send you
a photo if you like? its dated 14 05 91 and made in
germany, i bought it on a school trip to france, and its
a rowntree tube before the nestlé takeover. looks
similar to the 1993 german tube you have but without
nestlé above the smarties, and the e in smarties is
straight not angled... ps when you gonna update the
saudi arabia page??
